You might not know me, rather unfamous and tucked away in Lake Tahoe California, but take my word when I say that studying with Scott Nanamura will rock your world. He is my friend and teacher since a decade. The teachings I have received in Tai Chi, Yoga and eastern philosophies are constantly showing its benefits in the ups and downs of life. His teachings lead to a healthy body, sane mind, pure heart and individual soul. His Burning Man name is Moksha Superburner, he is a saint with a slightly bent halo, wicked on the dance floor, meditator extraordinaire, father, brother, son, a doctor of Chinese medicine, funny, funky, friendly and knows how to listen. Be brave, rip yourselves out of your routine, jump into the cold water and study with Scott. It will be a chance ‘to empty the cup’ and refill it with a new potion including new seeds of love, joy, peace and wisdom. While Scott is providing a safe space you have the opportunity to discover insights by yourself, find a new outlook, and untangle the snarls in your psyches. Have fun stretching and always celebrate life!!

I've learned how to push myself physically, mentally, and spiritually with Scott's teachings. From the philosophy he begins class with, to the seemingly impossible asanas, to the meditation, I always walk away feeling renewed and fulfilled on all levels. I've grown stronger as a yogi thanks to Scott!

I started taking Scott's yoga classes about 7 years ago and quickly discovered why he has such a loyal following. I kept coming back for more because his classes are so much more than asana. The philosophy topics he starts class with are always relevant to the challenges we face in life on a daily basis. He provides an outline for living a happy, fulfilling life, using yoga as the tool to combat the cycle of suffering. When Scott announced he would be transitioning to start teacher trainings at Diamond Heart Yoga, I was sad to see his regular class schedule go away, but excited for his endeavor since that meant more teachers just like Scott! I immediately had the desire to learn to teach from Scott. I completed his 200 hour training in Tahoe and took away so much juicy information. At the end of the training, I felt very confident to put together sequences and lead a class complete with tid-bits of yoga philosophy. Prior to the training, I had a desire to start a mediation practice but just didn't know how. Scott taught us how to meditate using visualizations in the body, and I now have a regular meditation practice as well. Scott has so much education and experience, yet he is humble and funny, making his classes super fun. I could go on and on...Just sign up for his trainings and you won't regret it!

As a long time student of Scott's, I couldn't wait to take his 200HR YTT. Becoming a student of Scott's has changed my life. With masterful humor and insight, Scott shares the wisdom of yoga that extends beyond the reach of asana. Throughout the teacher training, he delves into a discussion rich in yogic philosophy, teaching students how to apply yoga in a very practical way to our lives and the lives of our students. He offered us the opportunity at a different worldview - guiding many into an awakening of new concepts and ideas. His asana style mirrors life and is both challenging and sweet. Teaching specific alignment cues and extensive anatomy, Scott guided us through intense practices that pushed us to, and through limitations. I left this training feeling confident and ready to start teaching. In fact, two months after the training ended, I started teaching; transforming my practice even more.

It is hard to express in words what Scott means to me. If you are lucky enough to spend time time with Scott socially or during a mind blowing yoga class you are immediately drawn to his calm and happy spirit. He inspires many in this community for being a thought provoker and helps guide us to being the change we want to see in the world. He is a game changer and Tahoe is lucky to have him (hopefully we can keep him).

Summing up all that Scott has brought into my life in one small paragraph is near impossible. His wisdom in Tibetan Philosophy and the manner in which he presents it has forever long changed the way I think, act and operate as a person and as a mother of three young children. His quick wit and humor keep you coming back to class for a guaranteed enriching time on your mat with lots of room for laughter! I have never met someone more knowledgeable than Scott. A practicing Acupuncturist with a masters degree in Chinese Medicine, a Yoga teacher of more than 15 years, a father and a world of philosophy and wisdom past down from generations at his fingertips. Once Scott has touched your life, there is no way to not feel his love and compassion for the world and for you.
A perfectly unique balance of yoga philosophy, wisdom, and a full body workout. I feel spiritually and consciously enlightened after Scott's class.

Scott's classes always begin with a discussion of philosophy that stimulates our thoughts and behaviors as they apply to our yoga practice, and I find them very engaging for contemplation and self-improvement. Once his classes start moving, Scott has tremendous knowledge of anatomy and physiology at he will share with his students to help them develop their practice safely and allowing for a deeper expression of poses for all levels of yogis. Scott's experience, knowledge, and personal style make him a great yoga teacher that everyone can learn from and enjoy.
I go to Scott's classes because I can't afford a shrink, a Psychologist, or the meds.
I am so grateful for my years of study with Scott Nanamura. I have studied yoga and Buddhism with him for several years and recently partook in his 200hr yoga teacher training. Scott's extensive knowledge surrounding the essential yoga teachings makes him a true mentor of yoga philosophy and practice. His ability to share this gift with others through his insightful, approachable, and always humorous teaching style makes every yoga class a life lesson. I completed his 200hr training feeling prepared to lead yoga classes that incorporate yoga asana, philosophy, and meditation, and with a greater ability to incorporate yoga ethics into my lifestyle. Can't wait for the 300hr training!
